Belarusians to open Indian Wells run from round two

The 2024 Indian Wells main draw was released on Monday, with both the Belarusian players kicking off their run from round two, BelTA has learned.

World number two Aryna Sabalenka will play either world number 64 Peyton Stearns of the United States or Italy’s world number 60 Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Last year the Belarusian lost to Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan in the final. Two-time winner of the tournament Belarus’ world number 30 Victoria Azarenka will meet either Spain’s world number 67 Cristina Bucsa or world number 51 Caroline Dolehide of the United States.  

Victoria Azarenka won the Indian Wells in 2012 and 2016, and reached its final in 2021.

The main-draw play will kick off on 6 March.
