Aleinik meets with South Africa's deputy minister of international relations

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik met with Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa Alvin Botes on 13 December, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties discussed the state and prospects for Belarus-South Africa relations, confirmed their interest in expanding cooperation, and thrashed out plans to intensify interaction between Belarus and South Africa in a number of areas.

One of the main talking points was the development of trade and economic relations, in particular the possibility of Belarus' participation in agricultural mechanization programs in South Africa. According to the Belarusian side, the use of advanced agricultural technologies helps improve food security in Africa.

The parties also touched upon interaction between Belarus and South Africa in international organizations, including the UN and BRICS.
