Latvian business community seeks to expand areas of cooperation with Belarus. This showed during the workshop “Business Opportunities in the Republic of Belarus" in Riga. The workshop was attended by the heads of the diplomatic missions of Belarus and Latvia Alexander Gerasimenko and Mikhail Popkovs, Director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia Andris Ozols, representatives of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization, law and consulting companies, business organizations and entrepreneurs of Belarus, Latvia and Lithuania. Alexander Gerasimenko briefed the participants on the socio-economic development of Belarus, the measures to liberalize and reform the economy, to streamline the taxation and to create a favorable investment climate. Particular attention was paid to the ways of boosting Belarusian-Latvian trade, economic and investment cooperation, enhancing business exchange, implementing joint projects in the field of industrial cooperation, transport and logistics, cooperation in agriculture, construction, energy, communications and tourism.
The workshop also hosted the discussions on various aspects of business doing and legal framework of business and investment activities.
