Fewer than 6% of EAEU citizens have COVID-19 immunity

Fewer than 6% of citizens of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states have immunity to COVID-19, Aide to the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Iya Malkina told a press briefing as she spoke about resumption of passenger rail service between the EAEU member states, BelTA has learned.

“Despite the ongoing vaccination campaign in the EAEU member states, the epidemiological situation remains tense. At present, not more than 6% of the EAEU population have COVID-19 immunity,” Iya Malkina said.

The EAEU member states take the decision to resume passenger service on the basis of bilateral agreements and in view of the epidemiological situation. “For example, Belarus and Russia resumed passenger rail service on 8 February,” Iya Malkina pointed out.
