The export of wood chip and wood waste via BUCE reached $8.8 million in October 2020.

The export of wood chip and wood waste via the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) reached $8.8 million in October 2020. It is two times higher than in October 2019, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

“The supplies to Poland soared 74%. The country is the largest importer of Belarusian wood chip. In October, this market accounted for more than half of all the wood chip export. Lithuania and Estonia were also among the top three buyers with the amount of transactions reaching $3.5 million and $0.5 million respectively. In January-October 2020, the export of wood chip via the BUCE made up $55.2 million,” the BUCE press service said.

The positive dynamics recorded in October are due to the gradual recovery of demand for wood chip in the European Union. According to the BUCE press service, because of the previous abnormally warm winter, significant volumes of wood chip purchased by foreign companies in 2019 were left unclaimed. Only in September 2020, when most of the stock was used up, buyers returned to the exchange trading.
