The Kupalinka folk group performed at a reception timed to Belarus’ Independence Day in Paris.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France Pavel Latushko pointed to the importance of this holiday as he addressed Belarusian and foreign guests. He emphasized Belarus’ interest in cooperation with France and UNESCO which is headquartered in Paris. The Belarusian Ambassador deems it necessary to preserve cultural diversity and cultural heritage of different peoples. The year 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Belarus is also party to this treaty.
The concert by the Kupalinka folk group of the Belarusian State Philharmonic has become yet another proof that traditional arts in Belarus are preserved and respected. Another important event was an opening ceremony of the exhibition of three Belarusian artists: Viktor Olshevsky, Grigory Skripnichenko and Kastus Kachan.
