Belarus joins Europe’s cultural policy

Belarus has officially joined Europe’s cultural policy. The “White Paper on Intercultural Dialogue” has been presented in Minsk. The document defines a country’s strategy in the field of culture and cultural heritage. To join the program, a country needs to translate it into the national language, include it into the first pages of the opening statement of the country’s culture ministry and hold an official presentation.

The opening statement of Culture Minister of Belarus Boris Svetlov reads that the publication of the “White Paper on Intercultural Dialogue” in the national language means that the country embraced European values and principles that are the basis for sustainable development of the society.

The “White Paper on Intercultural Dialogue” was adopted by the foreign ministers of the Council of Europe Participating states in May 2008. By the way, the Belarusian language became the 25th language of the world the document was translated into.
