Belarus’ approaches to international security presented before CSTO Foreign Ministers Council

A Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas took part in a session of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, BelTA has learned.

During the session Andrei Dapkiunas presented Belarus’ approaches to resolving pressing problems of international and regional security. He drew attention to the Belarusian initiative to promote a comprehensive dialogue about global security. The diplomat stressed that the development of the Collective Security Treaty Organization as an active security donor in the region should be geared towards responding to a broad range of modern threats and challenges.

At the end of the session the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council agreed the candidacy of Stanislav Zas for his appointment as the CSTO secretary general. A number of resolutions concerning various aspects of the organization’s work were signed. The council also passed a statement on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders.
