A keen interest in the development of Belarusian mineral deposits, alongside with private domestic companies, is shown by organizations from Russia, Europe and North America, Vladimir Varaksa, Director of the Department of Geology under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Belarus told a press conference.
International tenders to choose investors for the development of six Belarusian mineral deposits were announced on 22 December 2012. According to the official, the most popular are the Turov oil shale deposit and Dobrush chalk deposit. Belarusian and Russian investors are also interested in two sand and gravel deposits.
“Both private Belarusian and foreign companies are showing interest. Among them are Russian and European as well as North-American companies,” said Vladimir Varaksa.
