Belarus mulls concessional lending for customers in Ukraine, Moldova, RSA

Belarus is mulling over concessional lending to boost its exports to Ukraine, Moldova, the Republic of South Africa, Indonesia and other countries, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Alexander Guryanov told media. The scheme has been successfully used in the Russian Federation for several years already in cooperation with the Sberbank of Russia. The government has instructed to look into an opportunity of expanding the use of the scheme. In particular, there are plans to apply it through the Russian VTB Bank. The scheme allows combining two areas: Belarusian export flows, the interests of the country and the global demand for the Belarusian equipment. Belarus mulls over using this scheme with other countries as well. Alexander Guryanov cited as an example Nigeria “which is nourishing plans for big purchases of truck vehicles”. There are other countries which show interest in the scheme. For example, the country is considering possible supplies of dump trucks to Australia and Mozambique. “Financial institutions of these countries may join the scheme in cooperation with our government,” Alexander Guryanov said.
