Trade surplus of the Industry Ministry of Belarus reached $2.8 billion in January-October 2012, exceeding the annual target by $204 million, Industry Minister Dmitry Katerinich said at the meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers.
The meeting focused on the implementation by the Industry Ministry of the main social and economic development targets for 2012 and steps taken to secure the implementation of the 2013 goals. According to Dmitry Katerinich, in January-October the ministry secured the implementation of the majority of the social and economic development targets. The industrial output growth made up 107.3%.
According to the minister, FDI is expected to make up $90.95 million in 2012. At present up to 35 investment projects are underway. Projects are implemented in cooperation with investors from 17 countries.
Belarus Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich took note of the importance of raising FDI and developing cooperation with big foreign companies. The Industry Ministry of Belarus is taking the relevant efforts. “We should invite investors and build up good partnership relations with them,” the PM stressed.
