Industrial cooperation seen as engine of integration in Eurasian Economic Union

Industrial cooperation should become the engine of integration in the Eurasian Economic Union, Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA learned.

“Industrial cooperation must become the engine of real integration. I am not talking about pooling of assets but about cross-cutting projects where we will be able to realize the full potential of the manufacturing sectors and science of our countries. Moreover, we have created a financing instrument for this,” Roman Golovchenko said.

He noted that these processes sometimes do not develop as quickly as one would like. “But what I have observed recently is that at least several projects are already in the stage of deep exploration,” the head of the National Bank said.

In turn, Belarusian Industry Minister Aleksandr Yefimov stressed the importance of developing technological and economic sovereignty not only within individual countries, but also within the EAEU. “Not only technological, but also economic, other types of sovereignty should be at the forefront and should be taken care of. It is time for the G5 to ensure technological sovereignty.”
