Sergeyenko: Belarus will allow nobody to erase its historical memory

Nobody will be allowed to erase our historical memory and make Belarusians hostage to alien geopolitical interests, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko said at the second session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the eighth convocation on 17 September, BelTA has learned.

“Today, on the Day of People’s Unity, we are opening the second session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the eighth convocation. This is both symbolic and responsible. After all, it is you and I who are the voice of the people, representatives of all regions of the country. It is we who should participate in the further consolidation of society, ensure quality development of legislation in its interests,” Igor Sergeyenko said.

“The Day of People’s Unity teaches us to be attentive to our history, to find in the past the answers to pressing issues of the present and jointly build our future,” the speaker said. “We have learned the lessons of history. We will not allow anybody to divide us again, erase the historical memory, make Belarus and Belarusians hostage to geopolitical interests alien to us.”
