The Belarusian swimmer Yevgeny Tsurkin took the men’s 50m butterfly gold at the 2013 Universiade in Russia’s city of Kazan.
The Belarusian took the first place together with Andrei Govorov of Ukraine who clocked the same 23.28 seconds as Yevgeny Tsurkin. The electronic system could not help name the winner and both sportsmen deserved gold medals. The bronze winner of the race was Italy’s Piero Codia who finished the final race in 23.38 seconds.
Yevgeny Tsurkin became the first Belarusian swimmer to win the medal at the 2013 Universiade.
