Belarus and Council of Europe to look into possibility of carrying out joint sports projects

Belarus and the Council of Europe (CE) will look into the possibility of carrying out joint projects in sports. The agreement was reached at the meeting between head of the department for international cooperation of the Sports and Tourism Ministry of Belarus Alexander Daronko and Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) of the Council of Europe Stanislas Frossard in Strasbourg. The parties agreed to work out the most favorable conditions for implementation of joint sports projects with the participation of the Council of Europe experts in 2013. Attending the meeting in Strasbourg were delegates from 22 countries and representatives of more than 25 international private organizations.

The EPAS is a form of work within the Council of Europe. Some agreements of the kind allow non CE member states as well as international organizations work jointly with the CE member states for the benefit of achieving common goals. The EPAS aims to promote sport in Europe, emphasize its positive values and share positive experience in the area.
