A national action plan in the wake of stress tests of the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been published on the website of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry, BelTA has learned.

The document contains a list of measures designed to enhance the safety level of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The action plan was compiled in the wake of stress tests of the nuclear power plant and a peer review of the results of the tests. The peer review was performed by the Belarusian side together with the European Commission represented by the European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group in 2017-2018. To compile the national action plan, the authors also took into account recommendations and proposals made by European Union experts and public organizations were taken into account.

Measures listed by the national action plan are supposed to be fulfilled in 2019-2025, which corresponds to the European practice of implementing national action plans in the wake of stress testing a nuclear power plant. The work to implement the measures has already begun, including as part of the procedure to license the operation of the first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant.
