The number of companies with Italian capital registered in Belarus over the past 1.5 years has increased two times, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Belarus Arnaldo Abeti has told a press conference in Minsk.
According to the Ambassador, after a certain setback, the bilateral trade and economic relations got back on track. The two countries have great prospects to expand mutually beneficial ties.
Over the three months of 2013 Belarus-Italy trade exceeded $490 million, with Belarus posting a trade surplus. Arnaldo Abeti noted that Directive No. 4 was a very desirable move. He believes the government should keep working to improve the Belarusian investment climate
According to First commercial secretary of the embassy, Ugo Boni, Italian investors are interested in implementing joint projects in Belarus:
(record)
Today a lot of Italian companies address us to find out more about the Belarusian market. The energy saving sector seems particularly interesting since Italy has a lot of experience in the field and the Belarusian side shows interest in the cooperation as well. One more promising avenue is pharmaceutics. We could manufacture products in Belarus and export them to other members of the Customs Union, i.e. Russia and Kazakhstan.
