The cost of hotel services in Minsk will remain unchanged at the time of the IIHF 2014 World Championship, the chief of the department for consumer services and hotel business at the Minsk City Council Andrei Novikov said at a meeting in the council
The Minsk City Council, and TsentrKurort, the official travel operator, signed a memorandum to make sure that the increase in prices during the international sports event will not exceed 10% of the current level. “This is lower than in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Kiev, but higher than in Riga, Vilnius and Prague. We have studied the negative experience of other countries and have taken the measures to prevent the unprecedented growth of prices for accommodation,” Andrei Novikov said.
All in all, the hospitality sector will include 44 hotels and 12 hostels for 20,000 places. Nineteen hotels are undergoing renovations. Six hotels have already completed the renovation work. Thirty-two investment projects to build new hotels are currently in progress. Among them are three-and four-star hotels and hostels in the low price segment.
With the projects over, the hotel room availability in Minsk will be at the level of Central and Eastern European countries.
