Red Cross shelter to open in Grodno

A Red Cross shelter for domestic violence victims and people in need of help will open in Grodno on 28 March, BelTA learned from Natalia Tolkacheva, Acting Chairperson of the Grodno Oblast Branch of the Belarusian Red Cross Society.

The shelter was set up by the Grodno Oblast Branch of the Belarusian Red Cross Society as part of the project “Reducing the risk of sexual and gender-based violence among/in respect to vulnerable refugees, asylum seekers and displaced persons in Grodno Oblast”. The project is financed by the U.S. Embassy Small Grants Program and the UNHCR Office in the Republic of Belarus.

The shelter opening ceremony will be followed by a roundtable session to exchange best practices by specialists of the Belarusian Red Cross Society and refugee shelters from Vitebsk, Gomel, Brest and Grodno.
