The Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry has prepared a note addressed to Poland to notify of its intention to resume transportation by rail via the Belarusian-Polish border checkpoint Vysoko-Litovsk-Czeremcha in Q2 2019.

Considering the massive increase in freight transportation between the West and the East, including in containers by rail between China and Western Europe, the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry and Belarusian Railways have come up with the proposal to reopen the Belarusian-Polish border checkpoint.

The probable train traffic via the Belarusian-Polish border checkpoint Vysoko-Litovsk-Czeremcha is estimated at 1 million tonnes.

The border checkpoint was closed to traffic in 1995. Work to reopen it began in December 2017 and will be finished once the Polish side sends the relevant note.
