Belarus’ weightlifter Elena Chichkan secures European title

         Elena Chichkan of Belarus won the 58kg event at the 2013 Senior European Weightlifting Championships in Tirana, Albania.
         The 19-year-old pressed a total of 213kg (95kg in the snatch + 118 in the clean and jerk). Medal winners in the category included Elena Loredana Toma of Romania – 210kg (93+117) and Romela Begaj of Albania – 207kg (95+112). Elena Chichkan’s medal is the first for the Belarusian team at this year’s European championship.
          Apart from Elena Chichkan, the Belarusian team comprises Anna Batyushko (63kg), Dina Sazanovets (69kg), Oleg Khugayev (85kg) Alexander Makarenko (94kg) and Oleg Loban (105kg).
