         Belarus participates in UN final conference on the development of Arms Trade Treaty in New York, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Savinykh. Belarus advocates the preparation of an international instrument that would establish high standards in the sphere of conventional arms transfer.

        The Treaty is aimed at curbing the uncontrolled and illegal spread of conventional arms. The document is to become an effective instrument in preventing the non-governmental bodies from laying their hands on the arms. The Belarusian side hopes that the agreement will be of universal and non-discriminative nature for all the sovereign states-participants.
