A Belarusian delegation took part in a ministerial meeting held in Geneva on 26 February during the 75th session of the Inland Transport Committee of the UN Economic Commission for Europe. The meeting was dedicated to the launch of a Euro-Asian transport network, representatives of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told media. The Belarusian delegation was led by Mr Mikhail Khvostov, Resident Representative of Belarus in the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva. The delegation included representatives of the Transport and Communications Ministry and the Belarusian Association of International Road Carriers BAMAP. Participants of the meeting discussed prospects of developing the system of Euro-Asian transport ties, talked over the role of transport in reaching the sustainable development goals voiced by the Rio+20 declaration. The sides shared the best practices in ensuring uninterrupted operation of transport ties and optimizing cargo examination procedures at the border. At the meeting the head of the Belarusian delegation inked a joint statement on the future development of Euro-Asian transport ties and a joint declaration on the development of Euro-Asian railway transportation and efforts to create common railway regulations.
