Customs Union import rules for Belarus clarified

The merchandise, which has been made in Belarus or is imported to Belarus before 1 January 2013, can be sold in the country without having to confirm the compliance of the merchandise with the Customs Union technical regulations that came into force in 2012, the press service of the State Standardization Committee of Belarus told media. The source said that they were getting multiple requests from manufacturers, traders to clarify how the products, which are subject to Customs Union technical regulations, will be traded in Belarus if the said products were not subject to mandatory conformance confirmation before the technical regulations came into force. The technical regulations in question are the ones on the safety of packaging, on the safety of products targeting children and the underage, on the safety of perfumery and cosmetics, and on the safety of light industry products. Therefore, the State Standardization Committee of Belarus would like to clarify that the products, which were not subject to mandatory conformance confirmation in Belarus before the technical regulations came into force and were made in the country or imported before 1 January 2013, can be sold in Belarus on previous terms taking into account the expiry period of the said products.
In other words, these products can be sold without having to confirm the conformance of these products with the mentioned technical regulations
