Belarus shares international concern over uncontrolled refugee flows

Belarus shares the grave international concern over the growing and uncontrolled flows of migrants and refugees, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov said as he attended a high-level meeting on strengthening cooperation in the management of migrant and refugee flows within the framework of the new sustainable development agenda that was held at United Nations headquarters in New York on 30 September, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports. Valentin Rybakov called upon the international community to channel efforts into promoting legal and orderly migration and building countries’ capacity to accept immigrants. Valentin Rybakov noted that the large-scale influx of migrants and refugees in Europe was caused by external attempts to overthrow governments, economic and political destabilization, and long-running armed conflicts in a number of countries of the Middle East and Africa.
