West slammed for ‘head-on attacks’ on Belarus and Russia under pretext of human rights

The Belarusian-Russian diplomatic interaction is among those areas of cooperation, where the high level of the allied relations between the two countries is especially obvious, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei said at the joint meeting of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus and the Foreign Ministry of Russia on 30 October.
“Thanks to a regular ministerial dialogue and trust we coordinate joint efforts in different areas. It, first of all, strengthens our positions in our interaction with foreign partners, promotes common interests of Belarus and Russia in multilateral organizations,” the Belarusian minister said.
Vladimir Makei also named several major topics that were on the agenda of the meeting. “First of all, we are seriously concerned with the increasing number of ‘head-on attacks’ of the West on us on the human rights issues, attempts to politicize and instrumentalize them to the maximum.
These attempts do not pursue idealistic purposes. It is done solely in order to advance their own geopolitical interests, and against the background of total silence about the shortcomings in this field at home. It seems to us that there is a wide area for joint work.
Apparently, it is time we, together with our partners, started highlighting, in a more active, creative and aggressive way, the shortcomings in those countries who criticize us most fiercely,” said the head of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus
