Union State prizes in literature and art to be presented at the 23rd International Arts Festival Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk

Union State prizes in literature and art for 2013-2014 will be presented at the 23rd International Arts Festival Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk which will be held from 10 July to 14 July, we learned from the Permanent Committee of the Union State.

This year the prestigious awards will be conferred on Russian art expert Inessa Slyunkova, Belarusian sculptor Ivan Misko and People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Zeldin.

Doctor of Architecture Inessa Slyunkova, researcher of the Institute of Fine Arts Theory and History of the Russian Academy of Arts, will receive the prize for a series of books about architectural monuments of Belarus and Russia.

People’s Artist of Belarus Ivan Misko, research staff member of the Minsk History Museum, was awarded the Union State prize for a series of sculptures dedicated to outer space explorers and a monument to Russian writer Sergei Aksakov.

People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Zeldin, actor of the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army, received the prize for the role of Don Quixote in the musical Man of La Mancha.

Union State prizes in literature and art are presented once in two years. Works of nominees must make a big contribution to the strengthening of the Union State, friendship and cooperation between Belarus and Russia.
