Olympics 2024: Belarusian weightlifters welcomed back home

Members of the Belarusian weightlifting team has returned home following their successful performance at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games, BelTA has learned.

 

From the Olympic capital, the Belarusian delegation first traveled to Istanbul, and then took a night flight to Minsk. Despite the late hour of their arrival, the athletes were welcomed back by their friends, colleagues on the national team and members of the youth team, representatives of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus and the Sport and Tourism ministry, as well as employees of the Staiki Olympic Center and the Belarusian Weightlifting Federation.

 

 

Belarus was represented at the Paris Games by weightlifter Yauheni Tsikhantsou and Siuzanna Valodzka. Yauheni Tsikhantsou claimed bronze in the men’s 102kg event, adding the Olympic medalist title to his titles of the winner of the World Weightlifting Championships and two-time European champion. Siuzanna Valodzka stopped one step away from the podium in her maiden Olympics, finishing fourth in the women’s 71kg event.
