Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has offered Azerbaijan assistance with the post-war rebuilding effort, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian head of state emphasized that after the end of the hostilities, the most important and difficult task is rebuilding and post-war development of the affected territory.
“Now it’s time to rebuild these lands, bring people back, which is quite a challenge (some of them were born in the city - there will probably be a problem). After winning the war and sustaining the victory, it’s necessary to focus on rebuilding,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
The president noted that this work will require a lot of time and effort. Belarus is ready to pitch in.
“If we can help with something, play a part in it... You have enough help now, but if we can participate in this effort on a friendly basis... Equipment, agricultural towns, workplaces, certain technologies (your specialists, ministers know these technologies well), if they fit, if our equipment can be useful here... During one-on-one negotiations I asked Ilham Heydarovich to let Belarus be part of this effort. And Ilham Heydarovich supported such an approach,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
A reminder, during the St. Petersburg meeting in December, the president of Azerbaijan confirmed that Belarus had offered its help with construction and upgrade of infrastructure facilities in Karabakh.
