Belarus' PM holds talks with Moscow mayor

Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko met with Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin during his visit to the Russian capital on 19 December, BelTA learned from the Belarusian government press service.

 

The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to interaction between Belarus and the Russian capital with a focus on further development of cooperation in trade, economy and industry.

 

Special attention was paid to the exchange of experience in innovative sectors of the economy - IT-sector, and development of unmanned vehicles. Belarusian Amkodor and the Moscow Automobile Plant Moskvitch are already jointly developing a line of electric-powered municipal vehicles with the possibility of remote control and gradual transition to unmanned control.

 

The parties also discussed the possibility of involving Belarusian organizations in the design and construction of facilities in the Russian capital (including within the framework of the housing renovation program).

 

The parties agreed that in order to achieve the set tasks, it is necessary to update the activity of the Business Cooperation Council of Belarus and Moscow and the basic cooperation agreement concluded in 1995. They agreed to start working out specific joint projects in the near future and work out a schedule of further contacts.

 

In January-October 2023, trade between Belarus and Moscow amounted to $5.1 billion, up 21% compared to the same stretch of the previous year.
