The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) will finance projects worth $0.5 billion in Belarus, Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank Nikolai Podguzov said at the final press conference of the EDB, BelTA has learned.
Answering a question about projects EDB has already implemented in Belarus and prospective projects, Nikolai Podguzov noted that the work on the Belarusian portfolio is proceeding as usual. “We have compiled a list of projects that we could finance. Currently, the financing is estimated at no less than $0.5 billion in various currencies,” he said.
“This year we have worked on two, perhaps three projects, but we are not ready yet to share the details - some deals are being finalized. This work focuses mostly on the private sector. Recently we have taken part in the Prilesie-Logistics project. Prilesie-Logistics is a large logistics complex that will help address a number of issues in logistics. We financed a project of the Alcopack company that makes medical packaging, a very in-demand product,” Nikolai Podguzov informed.
He has no doubt that the targets for Belarus will be met in the strategic period [2022-2026]. “Our areas of investment are traditional - transport, energy, technology, medicine, and sometimes the financial sector. Given our profile, we focus on project financing and the private sector,” he noted.
