Team Belarus ended the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Germany’s Duisburg by winning one silver and two bronze medals on the last day on 1 September. All in all, Belarus snatched five medals.
Belarus’ Roman Petrushenko and Vadim Makhnev celebrated the silver medal success in the men’s K2 500m. Dmitry Ryabchenko and Alexander Volchetsky won the men’s C2 200m bronze. On the women’s side Belarus managed to snatch a medal, too. In the K4 500m Belarus (Margarita Tishkevich, Nadezhda Popok, Olga Khudenko and Marina Litvinchuk) won bronze. Earlier Belarus won the silver medals in the men’s K2 1000m and C4 1000m. As many as 29 medal events were in action at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships which began on 28 August. Germany won the medal count with eight gold, six silver and two bronze medals. Hungary were second (7, 5, 5) and Russia third (4, 4, 1).
