The Belarusian national football team (U20) have lost their second game of the international tournament Cotif 2013, held in Spain’s Valencia.
In the second match of Group B manager Valentin Mikheyev’s Belarus narrowly lost to Bulgaria 0-1. The only goal came on 9 minutes, Semyon Shestilovsky turning into his own net. In the first fixture against Argentine Belarus also lost 0-1, the only goal coming on 30 minutes after the sending off of striker Artyom Komarov in the 25th minute.
Belarus are scheduled to play further matches against Japan and Canada. Australia, Spain, Qatar, Mexico and Saudi Arabia represent Group A at Cotif 2013.
Two best-placed teams from the two groups enter the semifinals, which will be played on 19 August. The final game and the bronze-medal encounter will take place on 21 August.
The Belarusian national football team (U21) meet Iceland in the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. Belarus represent qualifying Group 10. In the previous matches head coach Alexei Vergeyenko’s side lost to Iceland 1-2 and Kazakhstan 0-1 at home and are currently propping up the tournament table.
