Belarusian athletes set 35 national records since start of 2013

       The Belarusian sportsmen have set 35 national records in Olympic sports since the beginning of 2013, we learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry.
       The largest number of national records, 12, was set in the swimming events. Swimming is followed by shooting, short track, cycling sport, archery, weightlifting and track and field.
       In 2013 the largest number of national records was set by swimmer Yevgeny Tsurkin (6), with four records set in less than 31 days. At the World University Games in Russia’s Kazan Yevgeny Tsurkin set a new national record in the 100m butterfly and then re-wrote his own achievement at the 15th FINA World Championships in Barcelona where he clocked 51.65 seconds. Two other records of Belarus came in the 50m butterfly (22.9 seconds) and 100m freestyle (49.41 seconds). Other Belarusians also beat swimming records. They are Pavel Sankovich, Igor Boky, Viktor Vabishchevich, Alexandra Gerasimenya and Yuri Suvorov.
