The electronic library of the Belarusian State University (BSU) is among the top 100 libraries in the world, we learnt from the BSU press service.

According to the latest edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, BSU’s electronic library moved up 31 positions and is now ranked 97th.
The library of the Belarusian State University was one of the first in Belarus to start registering scientific publications, teaching and methodical materials by scholars and university professors in the world's full-text databases. In addition, the BSU library has started digitizing the documents to make them available to the entire international community. The library's collection now numbers about 40,000 full-text publications of scholars and professors of the University.
The purpose of such competition is to support open access to research publications and other educational materials in electronic form. Using the ranking the developers intend to additionally motivate researchers to publish their research on the Internet, making them available to colleagues and interested people, wherever they are.
