No place for Belarus at FIBA Women’s European U16 Championship Division A;

        The Belarusian national women’s basketball team have lost chances of being promoted to U16 European Championship Division A.
       At the FIBA European U16 Championship Division B in Portugal’s Matosinhos Belarus successfully finished the first group stage and entered the Group E competition. However, they lost their first Group E match against Finland 40:53, which extinguished Belarus’ hopes of qualifying for Division A of this basketball tournament. In the match against Finland Belarus’ Anna Brich led the way with 14 points, while Anastasia Sushchik scored ten and Valeria Smarshko nine points. In the other Group E game England were dismantled by Serbia 44:80.
          Belarus played in Group A and won matches against Ukraine 69:57, Switzerland 65:49 and Norway 55:26. The last game against Serbia turned out to be a 40:70 defeat.
A similar tournament for boys kicks off in Bosnia’s Sarajevo. In the first round Belarus will play in Group D against Austria, Luxemburg, Czechia, Georgia and Hungary. Two best-placed teams from the first round will partake in the classification games for the places from the first to eighth.
