Lukashenko sends Independence Day greetings to Belarusians

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has extended Independence Day greetings to fellow Belarusians, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“The country’s main holiday represents the centuries-old struggle of Belarusians for freedom, for the right to live on their native land,” the message reads.

The head of state noted that it is deeply symbolic that Belarus celebrates Independence Day on the day when its capital was liberated from the Nazi invaders. “During the Great Patriotic War, millions of Belarusian men and women sacrificed their lives to defend our future. This bitter experience has taught us to value peace and national unity, and to fight for statehood,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The president emphasized that Belarusians always drew strength from the spiritual heritage of their ancestors, from their hard work and dedication. “We need to be worthy descendants of many generations of patriots, achievers and winners. We are also responsible for generations to come,” the Belarusian leader said.

The head of state expressed confidence that only by carefully preserving the memory of heroes and multiplying what has been achieved, Belarusians will be able to retain their land and determine their own destiny.
