The Belarusian agriculture industry has demonstrated a stable operation this year despite the pandemic, Belarus Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo said at a recent press conference. “Workers of the Belarusian agriculture industry can be proud. We already see that in some respects we have performed better than in the past years. Working conditions were difficult, partly due to the pandemic. However, the Belarusian agriculture industry has operated in a stable way despite various complicating factors. There were no interruptions in food supplies, the planting campaign was carried out in full and in a timely fashion, the harvesting campaign is finishing on schedule,” Igor Brylo said.

According to him, this year’s grain harvest has already surpassed last year’s by more than one million tonnes. All branches of animal husbandry have reported growth. “The production of cattle and poultry in the public sector went up by 4.4%. Milk production rose by 5.8%. Last year, we achieved the yield of five tonnes of milk per cow. In January-September 2020, the yield rose by 233kg per cow,” the deputy minister added.
