Finnish businessmen invited to partake in Belarus’ privatization programs

Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich has invited Finnish businessmen to invest in the Belarusian economy and partake in the privatization of the Belarusian enterprises. The Prime Minster made the statement as he met with Ambassador of Finland to Lithuania and Belarus Harri Maki-Reinikka. The officials discussed the prospects of further development of trade, economic and investment cooperation and possible joint projects. Belarus views Finland as a key trade partner in Northern Europe. In 2012 Belarusian-Finnish bilateral trade went up 48% as against 2011 to reach $297 million. According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, Belarus and Finland have a considerable potential for boosting bilateral trade. The priority areas of mutually beneficial cooperation are machine building, power industry, woodworking, science and innovations.

It was noted that the fourth Belarusian-Finnish economic forum that will be held in Finland in 2014 will bolster business contacts between the enterprises of the two countries.
