Belarusian MPs discuss Belarus-Council of Europe ties in Strasbourg

The Belarusian MPs discussed the prospects of further improvement of relations between Belarus and the Council of Europe at a meeting of the delegation of the National Assembly of Belarus with Chairman of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) Bjorn von Sydow. The meeting was held in the follow-up to the session of the PACE Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy which the Belarusian delegation also attended. The delegation included Chairman of the Permanent Commission for International Affairs of the House of Representatives Nikolai Samoseiko and Chairman of the State Development, Local Self-Government and Regulation Commission of the House of Representatives of Belarus Alexander Zozulya. Within the context of the improvement of the Belarus-Council of Europe ties the meeting participants pointed out the need for regular meetings between the National Assembly and the PACE Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy. The officials also discussed the issues connected with the improvement of Belarus’ legal framework.
