Moldova suggests CIS common electronic library

Culture Minister of Moldova Monica Babuc suggests creating a common electronic library in the CIS, which will make an efficient means to strengthen the intercultural dialogue in the Commonwealth. The Moldovan official made this statement at the 28th meeting of the CIS Council for Cultural Cooperation in Minsk.

The Culture Ministry of Moldova has defined three main areas for further development of the intercultural dialogue: cooperation in the conservation of cultural heritage (tangible and intangible), cooperation in art education and partnership in the book industry and operation of libraries.

“In the present-day world the book publishing industry is not alone in its task of book conservation and distribution. Book digitalization is available today. We view measures to popularize the book and the book industry as important. We also believe there is a need for the development of the CIS unified electronic library as books and libraries are our cultural assets. Reading is a means of joining in various cultural values,” Monica Babuc said.

The minister expressed confidence that the youth creativity in theater, cinema, and music, review competitions for plays and cinema projects will promote the development of art education.
