A requiem meeting to mark 69 years since the village was burnt down by the Nazi will be held. The information was released by Anna Kirget, Senior Research Officer of the state memorial complex Khatyn.
According to the source, Dalva’s restoration began several years ago. On 19 June the restored memorial will welcome relatives of the only survivor of the tragedy as well as guests of honor and those directly involved in restoring the memorial.
As part of the restoration the museum’s collection was renewed, the principal statue was repaired, the memory wall was renovated, and symbolical wreaths were placed at foundations of the burnt down houses.
The memorial Dalva in Logoisk District, Minsk Oblast was opened on 15 July 1973 in the place where the village burnt down by the Nazi during World War Two stood. The memorial was built thanks to revenues from concerts of the Belarusian State Teleradiocompany, the army and contributions of public organizations. As many as 44 people, including 29 kids, perished in fires in Dalva on 19 June 1944.
