Objectiveness expected from OSCE freedom of media representative’s visit to Belarus

The Belarusian side expects objectiveness and readiness for a dialogue from the visit of OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic to Belarus. The statement was made by Chairman of the International Affairs Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Nikolai Samoseiko before the meeting with the OSCE Representative.
“I think that the visit of Dunja Mijatovic to Belarus should result in objectiveness and readiness for an equal dialogue based on mutual respect,” said the MP. He also remarked that Belarus is open to such a dialogue in all the spheres and areas: “It is this dialogue that is the future because an analysis of European Union sanctions indicates that the sanctions were counterproductive. Instead of a positive effect they have produced quite the opposite results”.
Nikolai Samoseiko underlined that Dunja Mijatovic should put together her own opinion instead of the one based on the wild guesses prompted by the so-called opposition.
