Belarus to partake in World Festival of Animated Film in Varna

      Alexander Lenkin’s animated film Grandfather has been selected for the 9th World Festival of Animated Film in Varna (Bulgaria) that is due to take place on 11-15 September. The World Festival of Animated Film in Varna is the Europe’s oldest forum of animated cartoons and one of the five most prestigious film festivals worldwide. 
      The Belarusian picture Grandfather is based on folk tales. Long time ago old people were viewed as a burden and were got rid of. The animated film tells about one family where children loved their father so much that they made up their mind to hide him from people so he could stay at home. The old man who saw a lot in his life helped his family many time with his wise advice. Learning the truth people canceled the old custom and started respecting their elders.
       Grandfather was presented at the 20th International Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart 2013 on 23-28 April. Alexander Lenkin’s work received Special Mention award from the jury of the film forum.
