Belarus, Turkmenistan discuss new projects in transport, agriculture

Belarus and Turkmenistan have identified new joint projects in transport and agricultural industry, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Ashgabat.

These and other matters were discussed at the ninth session of the Belarus-Turkmenistan intergovernmental economic cooperation commission that took place in Ashgabat. Belarus’ delegation was led by Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister, co-chair of the commission Igor Lyashenko.

The intergovernmental commission includes First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Andrei Yeudachenka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Turkmenistan Oleg Tabanyukhov, Belarus Deputy Industry Minister Dmitry Korchik, Belarus Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo and other representatives of ministries and agencies, heads of Belarus’ leading industrial enterprises.

The parties discussed in detail trade and economic cooperation. It was noted that the two friendly countries have been cooperating efficiently for many years already. The parties discussed ways to increase trade, in particular, to boost supplies of Belarusian machinery, Turkmenistan textiles, foodstuffs and other commodities.

The parties identified priority avenues of cooperation in trade and economy, discussed new joint projects in transport, agriculture, pharmaceutics and information technology.
