Latvia’s Kraslava has become a twin town of the Belarusian town Gorki. The town twinning agreement was signed during the 2nd Latvian-Belarusian Forum of Twin Towns in Daugavpils.
On Belarus’ behalf the document was signed by Chairman of the Gorki District Executive Committee Igor Makar.
According to Igor Makar, cooperation with towns and regions of Latvia gives an opportunity to advance Belarusian products to the Latvian market, which makes part of the European Union. The issue of efficient mutual use of the potential of the EU and the Customs Union markets was discussed during the forum.
Alongside with the plenary meeting of the forum, the Latvian city played host to exhibitions of Belarusian and Latvian goods. Belarusian companies brought their products, including foodstuffs, to Daugavpils. The residents of the city as well as participants of the Latvian delegation showed a big interest in the Belarusian goods.
