A joint meeting of the Defense Ministries of Belarus and Russia approved the draft agreement on mutual sharing of geospatial data between the Armed Forces of Belarus and Russia, Defense Minister of Belarus Yuri Zhadobin told media following the meeting.
Today the board took a decision to conduct a procedure of interstate coordination of the draft document for its further preparation for signing. “The implementation of this agreement will help timely and qualitatively implement survey and navigation events of the operational training of the regional groupings. Besides, the parties will unite efforts of navigation and topographic military units in creating geospatial data for mutual exchange,” the minister noted.
Another issue on the agenda was the evaluation of joint activities in the field of radiological, chemical and biological protection. The parties agreed to draft an agreement on cooperation between the defense ministries of Russia and Belarus in the area of monitoring and evaluation of radiation, chemical and biological situation, which will make it possible to integrate the national systems for the identification and assessment of the situation into a regional system. The ministries are also expected to develop a unified database on hazardous installations in the Union State, and unified approaches to technical information. The agreement can be signed at the next joint meeting of the ministries to be held this autumn in Moscow.
