A ballet company of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus will perform on stage of the Teatro Massimo Bellini, one of Sicily’s oldest theaters, for the first time. The ballet company will present Adolphe Adam’s Giselle staged by People’s Artist of the USSR Nikita Dolgushin. The conductor is Merited Artist of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Kolyadko; production designer is People’s Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Award of the Republic of Belarus Vyacheslav Okunev; assistant to the choreographer is Alexandra Tikhomirova. Seven stage productions will be shown during the tour.
The Teatro Massimo Bellini is named after composer Vincenzo Bellini who was borne in Catania, Sicily. For more than a century the theater has been the center stage of music life in Sicily. The world-famous stars that performed on stage of the theater include Maria Callas, Montserrat Caballe, Mirella Freni, Beniamino Gigli, Luciano Pavarotti, Mario Del Monaco and Tito Gobbi.
