Palestinian traditions on display in Minsk

The Day of Palestinian Culture was marked by representatives of State of Palestine in Belarus. According to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to Belarus Khalid Arikat, the Day of Palestinian Culture is marked on 13 March. The date coincides with the birthday of well-known Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. This association demonstrates the role of writers, publicists, musicians and artists in public life. “At all the stages of the Palestinian movement for freedom and independence they bore the banner of national interests. Mahmoud Darwish’s works enriched the Arab culture. His poems set to music have become songs passed on from generation to generation,” the diplomat said. In turn, First Deputy Culture Minister of Belarus Vladimir Karachevsky stressed that the language of culture is understandable worldwide. He said that such events help learn more about the culture of different countries, and wished peace to the Palestinian people. Partaking in the celebration of the Day of Palestinian culture were representatives of various establishments and state organizations, foreign diplomatic corps, academic staff and students.
