There are plans to start manufacturing technical carbon in Belarus in association with Russia’s Omsk region. The matter was discussed at the erecent meeting of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with the Omsk region delegation. Mr Valery Kaplunat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company Omsk Carbon Group, informed about a project to set up a joint venture in Mogilev to make technical carbon. The company has been working with Belarusian enterprises, in particular, with Belshina for a long time. According to Valery Kaplunat, the establishment of the relevant enterprise in Belarus will produce the necessary synergy effect to improve the competitive ability. It will allow satisfying Belarus’ demand for the product and exporting considerable volumes to Europe and America. “Carbon black is a very competitive science-intensive market. We have a very high competitive ability potential. We can match the quality of the best foreign competitors and even beat them in some cases,” he remarked. “Risks are minimal. We have already thought about it and have considered a business plan,” said Mr Igor Zhilin, Chairman of the Belarusian state-run petrochemical concern Belneftekhim.
“We support the project. Extra 400 jobs will be created, the logistics here will be perfect. The enterprise has been registered. The location has been chosen. And we have the personnel to secure quality”.
